I have always wanted to translate Burmese literature. I am glad that I am doing it now though it is very hard to find some time to write. Not so many people have explored this country. Burmese literature is not unpopular and yet is still unknown to the world. Burmese Short Stories books from one to thirty-six will introduce readers the Burmese literature. I find Burmese kind and easy-going people. There are many interesting stories behind this country and its people. Burma needs and deserves to grow more than what it is now. I believe that the first thing needed to do is to open its culture and literature to the world. I also found that there were not many authors attempting to do this job. I have decided that I will write stories adapted to modern thoughts but based on existing Burmese literature to introduce its value to the world, save its unique culture, and help the Burmese people in my own way. “Burmese Short Stories. Book one.” contains two short stories. I have written them based on the original stories printed by two Burmese authors. I have named the first story “A Deep Regret”. This story is adapted from the original story called, “This Mistake”. It was composed by a Burmese author, Kyi Mya, for Mya Wadi Publishing in November 1953. Volume 1, Issue 6. I named the second story, “Letter to My daughter”. This story is based on the original story, “A Request to a daughter” It was penned by a Burmese author, Ngwe Kae, for Mya Wadi Publishing in December 1953. Volume 1, Issue 5. Read more
